Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN Sashikala Premawardhane met with the Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, on 22 July 2026. The meeting focused on ways to strengthen trade and investment relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
Chairperson Bakrie welcomed Ambassador Premawardhane to The Convergence Indonesia in Jakarta and expressed keen interest in further expanding trade and investment relations between the two countries.
The discussion primarily focused on expanding economic relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia and promoting business-to-business linkages.
Ambassador Premawardhane invited a delegation from KADIN to participate in Sri Lanka Expo 2027, while highlighting Sri Lankan investments in Indonesia, which are valued at approximately USD 1.3 billion.
Both parties agreed to formalize business connections between Sri Lanka and Indonesia by establishing a Sri Lanka–Indonesia Business Council and renewing the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements that KADIN has entered into with relevant business entities in Sri Lanka.
The discussion was attended by senior management officials of KADIN and officials of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta.
