Minister Anil Jayantha Exchanges Views on Investment Opportunities Between Sri Lanka and Indonesia

On 18 September 2026, Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando met with the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry of Indonesia Dr. Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin, and exchanged views on investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, as well as best practices in place in both countries to encourage foreign investment.

Noting the 75th anniversary of the longstanding bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia, which will be commemorated in 2027, Executive Secretary Dr. Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin appreciated Sri Lanka’s contribution to Indonesia’s economy through significant investments in multiple sectors.

Minister Anil Jayantha explained the new policies and mechanisms introduced by the current Government, including the Investment Protection Act of Sri Lanka, which is expected to be enacted soon.

Speaking about investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, Minister Anil Jayantha highlighted opportunities available in Colombo Port City, oil and gas exploration , critical minerals sector and the domestic manufacturing of fertilizer.

The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN Sashikala Premawardhane, the Controller General of Imports and Exports of Sri Lanka T. T. Upulmalee Premathilaka, and the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta Nilanthi K. Pelawaththage.
