Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN Sashikala Premawardhane hosted a business networking session at the Sri Lanka Residence in Jakarta on 18 September 2026, in honour of Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha, who is visiting Jakarta from 15 to 19 September 2026.
The networking session was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, senior members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the President and Executive Committee members of the Association of Sri Lankans in Indonesia, members of the Indonesian business community, and well-wishers.
Welcoming Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha and the gathering, Ambassador Premawardhane emphasized the need for consistent efforts to foster collaboration between Indonesian and Sri Lankan businesses in order to further strengthen bilateral trade and business relations between Sri Lanka and Indonesia. She added that it is high time to establish a Sri Lanka–Indonesia Business Council to formalize and facilitate such engagements in a consistent and structured manner.
Speaking at the session, Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha highlighted the current Government’s progressive trajectory in stabilizing the economy and creating a conducive environment for both foreign and domestic investors. He further invited those present to convey this positive message through their respective networks and to explore emerging investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
The networking session concluded with a Sri Lankan dinner, which was warmly appreciated by all participants.
